Kempsey West Public School, the largest of four public schools in the town of Kempsey, has an enrolment of 350 students. This number includes students in a support unit which serves the special needs of children. Strong staff commitment and enthusiasm enable the school to offer stimulating, individualised programs for the interests and abilities of students. The school focuses strongly on supporting the literacy needs of all students and offers a wide range of innovative academic, cultural and sporting programs. An experienced and dedicated staff are committed to providing a safe, supportive and caring environment. A significant number of students come from a background of socio-economic disadvantage. The school has a significant Aboriginal population. The students are drawn from the town of Kempsey and surrounding countryside.
