Hornsby Girls High, has established strong traditions of achievement and service since it first opened in September 1930.
We are proud to be a government selective school for girls, and our outstanding reputation for the highest academic and co-curricular achievements continues to grow with each passing year. Our students are provided with an excellent academic education, along with numerous cultural, sporting, community service and social development opportunities.
With a caring and supportive staff and a disciplined yet relaxed atmosphere, our students study within a framework of security, confidence and self-development, allowing them to prepare for the many and changing challenges of the future.
Our Vision Statement, “Excellence in Girls’ Education”, and our wholistic philosophy of education, both promote the development of each student to her full potential.
This individual development is complemented by the remarkable cohesion and harmonious spirit which are features of our school and which celebrate the outstanding intercultural understanding and cooperation between all our students.
As well, there is a wonderful friendliness among the girls which goes beyond friendships in their own peer groups and is well-established right across the various grades. In recent years, our Student Representative Council and Prefect Body have done much to promote this excellent school spirit, and they have coined the term “intergradalism” to encapsulate the harmony and friendly atmosphere which exists between the different year-groups
