Education QLDÂ introduces St Thomas More Catholic Primary School in Margaret River, for all your education and learning needs.
Saint Thomas More, a single stream Catholic School in the Bunbury Diocese, is situated in Margaret River 270 kilometres south of Perth. Founded in 1993, the school has rapidly grown to an enrolment of 256 students from K-7.
A number of the children in our school come from the local rural community either involved in the Wine Industry or Dairy Farming. A large percentage of our parents are self-employed.
The sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart Convent and School opened in 1950 with an enrolment of 33 students and three staff, all nuns, Sr Imeldine, Sr Camillus and Sr Elizabeth. The school continued with varying enrolments until closure in 1970 with an enrolment of 26. The idea of building a new Catholic School gained momentum in the late 1980’s when surveys of projected enrolments indicated that there was a need for this facility.
St Thomas More Catholic Primary School opened in 1993 with an enrolment of 68 students from Pre Primary to Year 5 in three composite classes. The original staff of six included a non-teaching Principal who also took on the role of Administration Officer and Bursar. We have since built this up to a full single stream school with upwards of 20 full time and part time staff.
Welcome to St Thomas More Catholic Primary School one of the popular educators in your Margaret River area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other’s uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
